Intellectual Property & Career
‘Intellectual property: an opportunity for your career!’
Take intellectual property into account as early as possible!
And call upon the experts available at the university.
In a nutshell, what are 4 good practices for researchers in terms of intellectual property?
- They should keep as much evidence of their work as possible, in order to guarantee their results can be traced back to them (ideally using a laboratory notebook)
- They should not divulge their results until they are properly protected, and control all communications – verbal and written – with third parties
- They should look up their institution’s intellectual property rights policy
- They should contact their university’s IP experts and technology transfer officers
